Day 19 ~ I am thankful for good books.
I wish I had more time to read. Reading relaxes me and ignites my imagination juices again. I love books that transport you through time and invite you to dwell in them as you get lost in their world. I love reading books that take me away from the stress of my daily life and take me to a time that is more simple. I love to imagine whether I would’ve liked living in those simpler times.
Over the years, I have enjoyed a variety of genres – mystery, suspense, fantasy, Christian fiction and more.
Most recently though, my favorite have been the Christian romance and Amish novels. I absolutely love them!! I can easily devour one of those books in a couple of days (or less). The simplicity of their life and the way the Lord works in them and through them opens my eyes to my own shortcomings. I am always changed – for the better – when I read these books.
When I read these books, I find myself wanting to live a more simple life, be a more godly wife and a more patient mother. These books actually challenge me to be better. So yes…I am thankful for good books.
