Day 2 ~ I am thankful for my parents
On this second day of thankfulness, I can honestly say that I don’t know where I would be if it wasn’t for my parents. My mom took me and my brother to church, even during the times that my Dad had his own years of rebellion. My mom kept us sheltered from most of those issues or maybe I was naive enough not to notice. Either way I was protected. My mom made macaroni and cheese for us, because we loved – even though she hates it! Now that’s love!!
My Dad has many rough years when I was growing up, but later in my life he was always there for me. He was man who would bend over backwards for his family – all you had to do was ask. My Dad loved to laugh with his family. He loved to cookout and pretty much perfected grilled chicken! In the last few years of his life, he lived full-force, head-on for Jesus Christ. And that’s how I want to live my life.
My parents gave up a lot for me and I could never repay what they’ve done. I am so blessed to be able to call my mother my best friend and to have seen my Dad’s life turn around and used for the Glory of the Lord before he passed away. What a blessing!!
