Can you believe it’s already the end of 2013? In just a few short days we will begin a new year with new hopes, dreams and resolutions. I know for some it is a fun tradition to stay up until midnight and “ring in the New Year” with a kiss, party, confetti – or if you’re like me, you fall asleep well before midnight and the new rings in without you. Yep…I’m that person. But, that doesn’t mean you can’t have the same FUN ringing in the New Year, right?!
Last year I came up with the idea to ring in the “noon-year” and we celebrated at 12:00 NOON on New Year’s Eve Day!!! We had so much fun decorating our snacks, popping confetti poppers and blowing noise makers at NOON!!! That way the kids didn’t feel like they missed the celebrations or didn’t get to ring in the new year. So, I have gathered a few FUN ideas for you to create your own Happy NOON-Year’s Party!!!
Love this idea of 12 grapes representing the 12 months on skewers. HOW FUN!!!!
Make an edible cookie clock to help you countdown to the NOON-YEAR!!!
We did this activity last year and the kids had an absolute BLAST and my dining room & table were a complete mess!! Simply decorate upside down sugar cones into party hats to ring in the NOON-YEAR!!!
Countdown the New Year by popping balloons, filled with treats, on the hour (and half-hour, if you’re doing NOON) to ring in the NOON-YEAR.
Even if you didn’t save any sparklers from the 4th of July, you can usually find them in a New Year’s Eve pack at the store. Sparklers are FUN at any time and any AGE!!!
We also did this last year and it was a HUGE hit!!! Label paper sacks with the hours you will be counting down and open a new bag each hour!! (We also did the half-hours so we could get in all the treats.) One had the sparklers, one had the noise-makers, one had the confetti poppers – the kids absolutely LOVED this!!! It was so fun watching their faces in anticipation of each bag.
3 Dinosaurs has a fun-filled printable with over 50 pages to help you and the kids ring in the New Year!!!
Thinking IQ has a couple of fun New Year’s printables that you can use to make new goals and reflect on 2013.
Grab this fun New Year’s folding booklet. I know this one says 2013, but there is a 2014 page as well!! Get it free on Teachers Pay Teachers.
