As a Christian family, and maybe more importantly a ministry family, we are held to a higher standard in the community. People look to us for comfort, encouragement and love. We want them to feel comfortable coming to us with anything they need and I do believe our appearance goes a long way in opening up those lines of communication.
This post is a sponsored post on behalf of Logos Trading Post. I received these products in exchange for my honest review. All comments and opinions are my own.
Several years ago, our philosophy changed on what modest clothing really was. As a result the girls in our family only wear skirts. The boys in our family do wear shorts on hot summer days, but they are long and loose. We are careful about the tops the girls and boys wear in our family as well. We believe that our outward appearance is just as much a witness as our attitudes and personal life.
My husband and son love to wear Christian t-shirts with verses that are important to them. These are a great way to start a conversation with people while you’re standing in line at the store or when my son is out playing with his friends. It is an easy, non-threatening way to share God’s Word and be a witness for Him.
Jewelry that Makes a Lasting Impression
My oldest saw my package from Logos Trading Post a couple weeks ago and was excited about the Serpentine Stone Icthus cross necklace from the On This Rock collection. I will be honest that I haven’t always been a fan of jewelry with Christian symbols. Most of them look cheap or not genuine at all. However, I was pleasantly surprised by the Icthus cross necklace from Logos.
The cross has a 30″ adjustable wax cord, which I found to be soft and comfortable, but my over-sensitive boy didn’t care for it that much. However, he was determined to wear the necklace, so he simply put it around his shirt collar and all was well. He enjoyed showing it off at church and sharing the packaging with them…another aspect I love. The back of the insert tells all about the necklace – where its made, the stone it is carved from and explains the design and what Ichthus means.
I also love that this necklace looks sturdy and thick, yet it isn’t very heavy. In fact, it is relatively light. It doesn’t get in the way while I’m handling children and it doesn’t weigh my neck down. I love the smooth, sleek look of the necklace and the dark color doesn’t draw too much attention to it, like larger, chunky necklaces. Its simple, yet elegant. It also works well with casual clothing as well as more dressy outfits. It is also gender neutral, so it works great for both guys and girls.
If you’re looking for a great gift for that hard-to-buy-for-person, the Serpentine Stone necklaces might just be perfect! There are 5 different designs to choose from – Alpha and Omega, INRI, Jesus, The Dove & the Olive Branch and the Ichthus. These necklaces are made in Biblical Antioch-Turkey, where the followers of Jesus were called Christians first (Acts 11:26). The Serpentine Stone is unique to Antioch, which make these necklaces true treasures.
