As a Type A personality, I thrive on organization. Even though I don’t always meet my own expectations, I do best with lists and planners. So when the opportunity arose for me to review an online planner, I was so excited!
And I can truthfully tell you LessonTrek meets 2 out of 3!! (If you find a program that folds your laundry and does the dishes, please let me know!)
I was pleasantly surprised at how much LessonTrek had to offer and yet, how easy it was to use. For me, there was a minimal learning curve. I simply clicked on the little (i)’s around the home page to see what everything was and away I went. I firmly believe anyone with even a basic knowledge of computers could learn to use this program with very little effort. It really is that simple.
What I like about LessonTrek
First, I was able to quickly and easily enter my students’ information. Simply click the plus sign at the bottom left of the screen and you can enter their names – quickly and easily.
From there I could go into each subject individually and enter grading scales…
Even though I am not done planning, I have entered and will continue to enter the assignments I know we will be completing this year. Then, I can simply fill in the rest once our curriculum finally arrives in the next week or so. Once all the assignments are entered, I can easily enter them on the correct day.
So, what happens when Mom is sick or something comes up? Because, let’s face it…life happens! That’s easy! Simply click the Gray bar at the top of your day and drag it to a new day! All the assignments for that day will be moved over and you can go about your merry way! Say WHAAAT?! Yep…it’s that simple! I absolutely LOVE it!!!
There is also a way for students to log in and record their completed assignments, but my kids aren’t quite old enough for that just yet. However, I might have Mister Bull do that later this year to see how it goes.
Like printed plans? That’s easy too and just a click away!! PLUS…they look great! Not grainy or all whopper-jawed. Nice and neat. Ahhh…pretty.
AND I’m super excited about the features they are working on and hope to release soon!! Here’s what’s coming:
- Shared subjects across students
- Attendance tracking
I’m not sure I have a con for this program, except it doesn’t track our attendance and there is not one place to see all the grades. But since I track our days on paper right now, it’s not a deal breaker for me – and they are working on that feature, so I will wait it out. And I can easily see the grades for each subject with just a couple clicks, so I can also live with that. All the positives definitely out-weigh those two measly negative in my book.
While I used an online program the past few years, it was only because that’s what I had access to and was affordable. After using LessonTrek – I will NEVER go back!! And, if I put the annual subscription cost into our Homeschool budget it’s only $12 per month. BUT – I have great news for you, In All You Do readers!!! You can get a One-Year Subscription for 50% OFF the $60 annual price, just for being awesome! Simply use the code: 2IOL50 in the Payment Info section. Your credit card will be charged $30 for a full year and then renew for $60 each year thereafter if you do not cancel the subscription.
If you’re struggling to find a planner that works, I urge you to give LessonTrek a try! If you’re still on the fence, do the 14-day trial and then upgrade to a full year using the code 2IOL50.
