I have always loved studying a subject with my kids using multiple resources, so we can think about the subject in a number of ways.

Kids always think best with their hands. That’s because children think in very concrete ways. Anything we can do to help make abstract ideas more concrete for them will help them better remember what they’ve processed and learned. Hands-on crafts, activities, puzzles, and games can help our kids really understand important subjects.

As Christian parents, we want to help our kids really understand the Bible–God’s Word to us. Take a look at the list of engaging activities on God’s Creation of the earth below. You’re bound to find some fun, hands-on things to do that will help your kids better understand the biblical story of Creation.

Creation Activities for Kids

The doctrine of Creation covers more than just what the Bible says about the six days of Creation, and the Sabbath day of rest. When our kids study Creation from Scripture, they learn that:

  1. God created everything from nothing, in the beginning, for a purpose–and it was good.
  2. God created everything in six days, in an orderly way, with a plan–and then he rested.
  3. God created you intentionally, for a purpose.
  4. In the Creation story and in other passages about Creation, we learn that God is eternal, all-powerful, Tri-une, and uncreated.
  5. Directly following the Creation event, God blessed his people and gave us good Creation gifts.
  6. Though people rebel against God, he had a great salvation plan for his people–right from the beginning.

Many times, we focus on the days of Creation when we teach our kids about Creation. That is important, but there’s more for our kids to learn. That’s the reason I wrote Bible Investigators: Creation–so your kids can learn all about God’s doctrine of Creation in a puzzle-based package, straight from Scripture. There are a lot of other fun ways for kids to study Creation, such as the activities below.
