What are build and write challenges?
Build and write challenges are resources that incorporate several different ways of learning all into one. They typically use building bricks as a way to help kids work on fine motor skills and spelling while relating it to a set theme. These also include writing activities to get them excited about writing. From bugs and farms to holidays, you can find these resources for just about any genre you can imagine. I find them quite helpful when looking for extra ways to give my kids practice in a certain area or for busywork.
Benefits of Using Build & Write Challenges
Beyond getting fine motor skills, spelling, and writing practice, the benefits of using these kinds of resources go a bit further. For starters, they can take the guesswork out of what to use to help your kids practice a specific concept or skill set. These challenges are created with fun and engagement in mind, but also with the need for practice and review.
Most kids have short attention spans or lose interest in things that are mundane. These challenges are anything but that. Partly because they use the infamous bricks for building and the room for creativity when it comes to writing. This will help your kids have more focus and pay attention to detail, which are two vital skills kids need to learn as they progress in academic development.
