New Years Worksheets and Activities

Having a few New Years worksheets on hand is a great way to continue a relaxed approach through the holidays. As the coming year approaches, you may feel a little stressed about getting back into the swing of things. This is why I always add printable worksheets to my lesson plans, and I suggest you do the same. Have a stress-free and happy new year without having to worry about what to teach. Below are some of my top suggestions for homeschooling through the new years, as well as a few printable packs to grab in the meantime.

3 Ways to Homeschool Through the New Years

Use the new year to your advantage.

Since the start of a new year falls after Christmas, you can use these to your advantage. If you’ll be setting any new year’s resolutions, invite your kids to do the same. This is a fun way to teach them about setting goals and taking any necessary actions to reach them. You could even set goals (or resolutions) as a family and work toward them together. Evaluate the previous year and talk about things you’d like to change and/or keep the same. This is good practice for your kids and they’ll need these skills much later in life. Use this time to help them establish good habits and talk about any bad habits that should change next year.

Plan several new year activities.

If you’ve never thought about it before, consider starting a few new years traditions that are special to your family. This can be anything from having a small party to cooking a huge meal and having a new years feast. Add in music, a few games, and some party blowers for a memorable good time. If your children can stay up long enough, add in watching the ball drop. As always, don’t hesitate to ask your kids for ideas. You may be surprised by what they come up with.

I briefly touched on this earlier, but would like to reiterate and expand here. Worksheets are seen as busywork by some parents but I’ve always considered them the perfect way to help teach new concepts or get practice with concepts already taught. In the case of using them for the new year, they are a way to help you keep somewhat of a homeschooling vibe alive in your home while providing you with a relaxed approach.
