Seasonal Skirt Wearing for Little Girls: Spring Edition

Earlier this week, our oldest daughter, Miss Priss, turned four. It hardly seems possible that she entered our family four years ago. Some days she acts so big that I forget she’s only 4 and other days I just want her to stay little forever so I can hold her and snuggle with her on the couch.

Seasonal Skirt Wearing for Little Girls - Spring Edition

Other than when she was first born, she has only ever worn skirts or dresses. You can read more about our decision for the girls in our family to only wear skirts here. This is the first in a new series I’m participating in. There are 10 other bloggers participating in this Seasonal Skirt Wearing series as well. Each quarter the plan is to bring you some fun outfits and how we wear skirts year round.

That being said, I must admit I have a bit of an addiction to buying clothes for my girls. I have found that the best way for me to shop for them is with a list of specifics that I want to find. I also have to confess that we buy most of our kids clothes and shoes at the consignment store. That’s where we shop first – and by we I mean…me. If I can’t find everything on my list at the consignment store, then I search for deals and sales. So…all of that to say that some of these outfits may not be available in stores now, and that it is possible to dress your kids cute on a budget!!

Today I’m sharing some Seasonal Skirt Wearing for Little Girls. I would like to thank my sweet and cooperative four-year-old daughter, Miss Priss, for modeling some of her favorite Spring outfits. Even though the air is still a little chilly here in Indiana until mid to late May, we have transitioned to short sleeves. Although they often wear jackets when we leave the house.

Outfit #1

Top: Green shirt from Faded Glory

Sweater: Pink sweater from Justice

Skirt: Floral skirt by Hartstrings

Hair bow: Medium Pink Bow on alligator Clip

Pinkie Pie My Little Pony for support

Birthday outfit from Mimi

This is one of my new favorite outfits on Miss Priss. Although…it does make her look a little too big for my sweet 4 year old. When my Mother-in-Love was up visiting last month, she went with me to shop and found this outfit for her birthday. NOTE: The shoes are not included in this picture because she is in love with her new tennis shoes and refused to take them off for the picture. And they don’t match, which was too much for this Type A personality Mommi. LOL

Outfit #2

Dress: Plaid sleeveless dress from Op

Top: White t-shirt by Cherokee

Shoes: Old Navy Butterfly sandals

Hair Clip: Teal Sparkly Star clip from Wal-Mart

This dress is actually one that I believe was passed down to us by a sweet friend in Oklahoma. We don’t wear sleeveless shirts or dresses, so I just added a short-sleeved white t-shirt under it and it works perfectly. These sandals are one of her favorite pairs of shoes now because she loves butterflies.

Outfit #3

Dress: Youngland Seer-sucker dress

Shoes: White Sandals from Wal-Mart

Bow: Medium Pink bow on alligator clip

Little girl pink Resurrection Day dress

This is a prime example of when I needed to purchase shoes from somewhere other than the resale shop. White shoes are hard enough to come by for little girls, let alone around Easter. So for the sake of her Resurrection Day outfit, I bought these shoes. Bonus – I did find them on sale!!

Outfit #4

Top: Jumping Beans Lime Green top with White mock cami and rinestones around the neck

Skirt: Pink, Lime Green and White Paisley skirt from Levi’s

Shoes: White Sandals from Wal-Mart (same as in picture above)

Hair Clip: White Flower on alligator clip from Wal-Mart

This is another outfit my Mother-in-Love bought while she was here in March. While dresses are nice and easy for young girls, I do love these little skirts on her as well. Even if they do make her look so big.

She was having so much fun posing for me, that she insisted on me taking her picture like this. With a face as sweet as this, how could I resist?

Outfit #5

Top: Pink, teal, white & brown floral tank from Old Navy

Shirt: White T-shirt from Cherokee (same as the one above in outfit #2)

Skirt: Jean skirt with built in shorts from Old Navy

Shoes: Old Navy Teal Butterfly Sandals

Hair Clip: Teal curly ribbons on alligator clip from Wal-Mart

Little girl pink&teal collage

This is another outfit that I think is just so cute on her. Normally I don’t like her to wear skirts above the knee, but this one actually has shorts built in to it and since she’s only four, I’m okay with it. Notice the shoes are the same as in Outfit #2 – I told you she liked them! One thing that I’ve learned to do with all this immodest clothing out there for even young girls now, is to layer clothes that might not be modest on their own.

I would like to point out that my daughters both wear either leggings or those short cotton shorts under their dresses and skirts (if they’re not built in). In the past I have found most of these at consignment stores, at stores during after season sales and even garage sales, where I can pick them up for a quarter or so.

So those are a few of Miss Priss’ Spring outfits. I hope you have enjoyed a look into her closet. While I enjoy shopping on a budget, I also take time to watch for sales and frequent the consignment store until I find what I’m looking for.
