The Lion King may have come out while I was in high school, but it was by far one of the greatest animated musicals Disney produced in recent years. My friends and I loved the movie, the songs and would watch it whenever we could. It became so popular that our choir even sang some of the songs and the boys in our show choir sang “The Lion Sleeps Tonight” during one assembly and everyone went crazy!

If your kids love "The Lion King" movie as much as mine, they are sure to love this fun movie study too! Have a fun movie day and sneak in a little learning too! #moviestudy #movies #thelionking #homeschooling #homeschoolers

Now I have passed on the joy of the movie and songs to my own children. But I don’t want them spending hours upon hours just watching movies, so I love that this fun movie study can bring in a little learning for them as well. Here’s what’s included…

Discussion Questions

These discussion questions are perfect for kids of all ages. You can ask the questions in a group format or give each child a copy of the questions and have them write out their answers on their own paper, thus sneaking in a little handwriting and spelling practice too!

All About Lions

I love that this study includes some science! Grab an encyclopedia or go searching on the internet (with parent supervision and approval) for information all about lions!

Compare and Contrast

I love doing compare and contrast pages with my kids. It is a fun way to help kids pay close attention and really see the differences and similarities in two characters. This is also another great preparation for book reports and research papers in the future.

Music Tells a Story

How close do your kids pay attention to words of songs? We talk to our kids a lot about the words in a song and the meaning behind them. Have your kids really listen to the songs and then retell the stories talked about in the songs of the movie. This is a great way to also talk about the different music, instruments and styles of the songs, bringing in some music appreciation!
