Do you have a unicorn fanatic in your home? My youngest daughter is all about the unicorns and glitter these days. She has shirts, socks, bows, dolls and just about anything else with a unicorn. She is my live in the clouds, loves dreaming and imagining outside the box child. So of course unicorns exist in her world!
I learned a while ago that the way to help and encourage her in her school work. So when I saw these unicorns, I knew we needed them! And since math is where she struggles, this prek math pack is the perfect way to help her practice and improve her math skills!
As we have shared quite a few themed prek math packs over the last few months, I have noticed a few things. Our daughter has grown in her love of math. These themed packs have given her more confidence in her math skills while keeping it light and fun. And these packs just make her smile when its time to work on math instead of dread learning.
Some of my kids would just rather have the plain pages and get their work done as quickly as possible. But our youngest daughter wants all the fluff and fun with the learning. I am definitely more the first option – just get it done, so this season has been a bit of a struggle for me. However, I think we have found what really works for her, so you will probably see more of them as we continue to work on her math skills.
ADD OR SUBTRACT
There may not be a lot of practice problems on this page, but if you laminate it they can practice over and over. You can even change the subtraction problems to addition problems and have more fun!
Part of learning to count and doing math is learning to read number words. This is another great page to laminate and practice multiple times. Your little one can work on not only reading the number words, but writing them as well.
Learning to recognize sizes and classify them is a fundamental concept little ones need to learn. Putting shapes into groups by color, size or any other form is a fun and easy way to help them work on spatial awareness and learn more about the world around them.
My daughter loves patterns. She loves creating patterns with her toys and finishing patterns she sees. She is gifted in the fact that she can find and see beyond what is there and really see patterns that others might overlook. These simple little patterns are just the start.
COUNTING WITH DOTS
The last two pages can be used in a couple of different ways. Kids can simply use these pages as a matching exercise by drawing a line from the number word to the correct set of dots. You can also draw some lines around the number words and the dots then cut them apart. Kids can then match them up or play a memory game to match the pairs.
