If you’re just joining us, you can catch up here in our Across the USA in 31 Days series. Every day this month I will bring you a small sample of printables from my larger eBook, which will be released later this month. I hope you will join me this month as we travel from state to state across the USA.
I briefly visited Tennessee as we passed through on our way to Atlanta. I would love to go back sometime when we have the time to look around, take a few days and take in some of the state’s rich history, which begins with the Watauga Association – a semi-autonomous government created in 1772, which is often referred to as the first constitutional government west of the Appalachians. Initially, Tennessee was part of North Carolina and then later part of the Southwest Territory. On June 1, 1796, Tennessee was admitted in to the Union as the 16th state. They were the last to leave the Union and join the Confederacy when the Civil War broke out in 1861. It was occupied by Union forces the very next year, 1862, and was the first to be readmitted to the Union at the end of the war.
Today you can download the Tennessee State Flag Coloring Pages. The flag has a mostly crimson background, with a blue circle in the middle outlined in white. Three white stars are arranged on the blue circle representing there different land forms in Tennessee – mountains in the east, highlands in the middle and lowlands in the west. These regions on the flag are bound together in an unbroken circle. There is also one small strip of blue on the right side with a slim white strip, which prevents the flag from showing too much crimson when it is limp. The coloring pages are available in print for the pre-writers, dotted manuscript for early writers and dotted cursive for upper elementary.
