If you’re looking to include Scripture into your homeschool lesson plans, then I have the best parables for youth for you to consider teaching. Parables have always been a great way to teach different principles and make for great engaging lessons. This is why I’d like to share a few with you, as well as several parables of the Bible printable worksheets.
4 Easy Ways to Teach Parables of the Bible to Youth
I don’t know about you, but the older I get and the more I read the Word, the more I realize the importance and relevance of the parables found in Scripture. The principles taught are not only applicable to adulthood but can also be introduced and applied in childhood as well. To help you introduce parables to your youth, here are four easy ways you can start doing it today.
Read the parable and discuss.
Some parents may feel a little overwhelmed when trying to read the Bible to their children, let alone explain the meaning of the parable where they can understand it. Luckily, parables are written in a way (depending on the translation) that can easily be broken down and used for meaningful discussions with your children. Even if you (or they) do not have all the answers, it can help light a fire to want to learn more.
Watch a video, movie, or documentary about the parable.
In this technologically advanced world we live in, there isn’t a shortage of videos, movies, or films for just about any subject – including biblical parables. Do one quick search on YouTube and you can find tons. Also, check with your public library to see if they have anything available to check out and watch. Adding these into your lesson plans can help your young children visualize the parable they are learning about.
Include printable resources and teaching materials.
I have a free resource for you below, but you can also find lots of others floating around Internetland. In addition to these, you can also find paperback (or hard copies) of parable-related resources to help create lessons and activities that your kids will enjoy.
Make it practical.
One of the biggest issues we have when teaching our children biblical principles is making them practical enough to walk out in everyday life. Luckily, with parables, this doesn’t have to be the case. Even if you choose just one thing to help your children learn to walk out, that’s taking a good step forward in their spiritual understanding and walk.

Final Thoughts
Hopefully, this post will help make it easier for you to teach your children about the parables of the Bible. While there are different ways to teach these bible stories, the good thing is that you are teaching them in the first place. Most of the time these are taught in youth group by youth leaders, but you don’t have to wait for that.
Use the suggestions and resources to help create lesson plans that are easy, fun, and practical! Younger children don’t need a super detailed lesson plan. One of the best things for kids today is practical application and bible study that can be used in their everyday lives.
