Earth Day Activity Placemats

I’ve never been a big recycler. *gasp* I know…I know. We do save cans when we have company that drinks pop or we’ve gone on a trip or an outing. But, as far as separate bins for paper, aluminum and plastic…yeah…we don’t do that. While I’m not an extremist in this area, I do see some value in recycling products.

Since we moved to Indiana, we only have one trash pick up day. In Oklahoma we had two. Here they offer recycling pick-up, which might reduce some of our outgoing trash. It can also teach sorting to little ones and even some Science to older kids as to why certain things are recycled and others aren’t. One day we would like to have land, where we can grow our own garden and I plan to have a compost pile, which is also a form of recycling.

While we don’t necessarily celebrate a traditional Earth Day, we are called by God to take care of what He’s entrusted to us. And we are living on this Earth, so we need to take care of it the best we know how. So that is how I will teach my children on Earth Day.

To add some fun to the day, I have created some Earth Day Activity Placemats for the kiddos. I suggest printing them on cardstock and/or laminating them for durability.
