Keeping Christ the center of your homeschool often involves finding unique ways to make Bible learning in your homeschool more fun. In our homeschool, we like to include the basics of prayer, Scripture reading, and a general discussion, but I wanted to give my kids more. I wanted them to have fun while learning Bible truths and remember them. I can’t say I have it all figured out, however I did find something that we enjoy and you just might too!

Why include Bible learning in your homeschool?
If you’ve followed me for any amount of time, then you know how important it is to me that my kids be raised in Christ. Especially now more than ever, our children need to be grounded and rooted in their faith and ready to defend it.
I believe it’s important to show our children that learning about their faith is not only for Sunday mornings and Wednesday nights at church. Instead, my hope and prayer is by including Christ in everything we do, it will help sow seeds to later become fruit they’ll need in their adult life.
Although I spend a significant amount of time adding new Bible studies to keep our homeschool fresh and creating Scripture memory work, it sometimes lacks the fun and excitement that kids love. Hence, why I’m glad to have found three ways to make Bible learning more fun in my homeschool.
Disclaimer: I was given these games in exchange for an honest review. All opinions are my own and those of my family. We were not required to give a positive review. Ways to Make Bible Learning More Fun
These ways are genius when it comes to switching up how the Bible is incorporated in your homeschool. Your kids will have tons of fun and not realizing how much they’re actually learning! A couple months ago we were given some Bible games from Funhill Games to try. My kids love getting mail and they love games, so it wasn’t hard to convince them to give these a go. Not only were these a new way to learn about the Bible, they were fun and kid-friendly, which is a must in our large family! If you are looking for ways to include Bible learning in your homeschool, give these ideas a try!
Puzzles
You can find puzzles for just about everything out there today, yet finding good Bible-based ones are few and far between. The good thing about puzzles is their ability to hit three basic skills:
- Physical (using gross and fine motor skills)
- Cognitive (critically thinking about which pieces go where)
- Emotional (learning patience and accomplishing a task)
The puzzle we have started using in our homeschool is The Disciples Floor Puzzle from Funhill Games. When complete, it shows a picture of the 12 disciples walking together. It even has their name under each picture. These make for good conversations and deeper study to find out who these guys were, what their lives were like before following Jesus, and they changed afterward.

Recently, we pulled The Disciples Floor Puzzle out at our campsite and kids were flocking to help put it together. This puzzle was the talk of the campground! They loved working to put it together and saying the names aloud. Some of the kids knew about the disciples but not their names, so that was a fun added bonus lesson. When completed, the puzzle is 4 feet long! 😳 So it was the perfect puzzle to take outside on a nice day. The other thing we love about this puzzle is the pieces are larger than “normal” and thicker too, so they are easier to keep track of and not lose!
Become a Detective
Teaching kids how to become a Berean – or detectives of the Word – can start sooner than later. This can be one of the most life-changing things in a child’s faith walk because they are learning how to study God’s Word while memorizing what they’re learning. To help foster this spiritual life skill, we are using a game called Become a Detective.
It is a clue-type game similar to “Guess Who?” where they read clues on the cards and try to figure out who the Disciple is. Talk about a fun way to show kids how to investigate the disciples and remember who they are (goes hand in hand with the floor puzzle)!

This game quickly became a favorite in our home. My middle three kids love the guessing and clues games, so this was a natural fit. My kids beg to play this game, so I call that a WIN! Become a Detective is a quick and easy way to help children learn more about each disciple. It can be played with just 2 players but up to 5, which makes it the perfect homeschool (or small church group) game for Bible time. It comes with dry erase markers included, but if they run out you can easily buy more. The cards are well-laminated making this a sturdy game for kids. If you’re looking for a way to teach your children about the disciples in a fun way, we highly recommend Become a Detective.
Family Game Night
If you thought homeschooling could only take place during the day and using certain curriculum – think again! You can be intentional about teaching your kids any time, any day, even when it comes to learning about the Bible. Having bible-centered family game nights gets the entire family together for a fun time.
To start having family game nights in your home, simply pick a day, time, and decide if you want a themed meal. Make it a big deal and have everyone contribute in some way, even the little people!
Two games I highly recommend are Wisdom of Solomon and Kings of Israel. Both of these games are geared toward older children, but could easily be used with younger kids. Simply pair them up with an older sibling or adult and everyone can learn and enjoy game night together!

Kings of Israel is a game where everyone is on the same team. It would be easier to play with a wider age range, since the older kids can help the younger ones make the best moves. My husband and son played this game and really enjoyed it. It was easy to set up and the instructions were easily understood. You can utilize this game to help children learn the Kings of Israel. Depending on the number of players, this can be a quick game. Add in additional players and move up to Expert Mode and it will become more challenging and take more time.
Wisdom of Solomon was their least favorite to set up. The instructions are not as clear and the game a little more complicated than most. However, once they got through the instructions and started playing, they enjoyed it. Our 11-year-old joined them on this one and he picked it up pretty easily as well. It is a multi-faceted strategy game with many avenues to acquire favor points, which ultimately win the game. Wisdom of Solomon is definitely geared to older kids. You could even use this game as a conversation starter about Solomon and the temple.
Revamping Your Homeschool Bible Time
Adding Bible learning in your homeschool doesn’t have to look like a formal study. Kids learn best when they are having fun and can make connections. That’s why we love mixing things up and using games to increase their learning. Games are fun but are also a great way to help kids really make the connections and remember what they’ve learned. If you’re looking for some new Bible games, we highly recommend these from Funhill Games.
