My oldest is not a fan of reading. He loves to learn, but reading is not his preferred method. This means some subjects are more difficult to teach than others. History being one of them.

Learning about the Constitution is SUPER FUN with this book from David Bowman! Filled with facts and history shared through cartoons, kids will love it! :: www.inallyoudo.net

Enter “What Would our Founding Fathers Think?” This book is not your usual approach to history. David Bowman approaches the constitution in a fun and creative way. Through cartoons and humor, Bowman grabs the attention of the reader and weaves in history in a way that gets kids coming back for more. That’s why I’m so excited to be teaming up with David Bowman this month!

History is not just about what you read in a book. It comes to life when you make it personal and relative to today. Bowman does a wonderful job of establishing the historical, literal existence of the Constitution, which all Americans – young and old – need to understand.

What I love about this book:

  • The approach – This book has such a fun and inviting approach. My son loved reading it because the images were creative and comical. They were on “his level” and intriguing to him, enough that he kept wanting to read – which is saying something
  • The simplicity – I love that this book presents the Constitution in a way that kids of all ages can understand. It’s not full of legal, mumbo-jumbo or large words that require a dictionary to read a sentence. That is part of what makes this book so wonderful.
  • It is relative – Bowman does a fantastic job both through his artwork and the way in which he tells the story from the historical figures point-of-view, the really brings history to life. Even though we don’t have videos of our founding fathers talking about their why, Bowman brings them to life in their “chat” sessions.
  • The creativity – It amazes me how authors can seamlessly weave humor and fact throughout a book that entices children to learn more. Bowman does just that in this book and I couldn’t be more happy with what my son learned while reading it. It opened up a world of questions, more learning and conversations that might not have been sparked otherwise.

I highly recommend this book to both youth and adults. It is a great way to introduce the Constitution to young students and a wonderful way for adults to understand what our nation truly needs.
