It wasn’t until I began homeschooling our own children that I realized just how many holidays are in February! I think it’s because they were overshadowed by Valentine’s Day and then we immediately looked forward to Spring Break. Now that I homeschool, I relish the days and weeks we have a holiday. I am falling more and more in love with a Unit Study-type schooling approach – at least to help fill-in some extra time and add some fun to our days.
I have made several other copyworks so far this year, but this was by far my favorite to date!! I carefully select the quotes that I put into the copywork, because I want it to stay true to my personal beliefs and consistent to the mission of this blog. So, as I set out to find quotes from past presidents I really got more than I bargained for. I so enjoyed reading some of the quotes that people have recorded over the years.
Many of our presidents were not only smart, but witty as well. The Hubster and I found ourselves laughing quite a lot at the quotes we read. It was also fun to read through them and see how so many of them from the early 1800’s were prophetic about where our nation was heading. It was almost eerie.
That being said, I finally narrowed it down to 10 quotes I felt portrayed not only our nation, but my own personal beliefs. So, yes…these copywork quotes may be a little biased. And you know what? I’m okay with that! This President’s Day copywork is more than just handwriting practice. You can do so much with these quotes to add more history, economics, faith and even politics (for the older students) into your studies. You can use these in conjunction with my other President’s Day Printables or as a stand-alone exercise.
Included in this Set:
- 10 President Quotes
