Do you celebrate Star Wars Day in your homeschool? If so, I have a few printables for every Star Wars fan. In addition to free printables, I’ve rounded up some of the best activities, crafts, and even themed food for the iconic May 4th.
Fun Star Wars Activities
When it comes to fun activities, there are many things kids can do that are both educational and engaging. For starters, young star wars fans can recreate their favorite characters and have hours of imaginative play time. From shadow puppets to fully dressing up, let your kids’ creative juices flow.
Another great idea for huge Star Wars fans is to use STEM activities and projects. Here are a few to add to your lesson plans:
- Make a galaxy jar.
- Have a go at making Star Wars soap.
- Mix up some lightsaber slime.
- Create your own DIY lightsabers.
- Challenge your kids to make their favorite Star Wars characters out of Legos.
Once your kids have had fun playing dress-up and making their own batch of lightsaber slime, let them play a few Star Wars games. In my opinion, games have always been one of the most underrated resources that could be used to help kids learn. Research actually shows that games have educational benefits and should be encouraged as a way for kids to learn. And what kid doesn’t like games? Below are a few game ideas that your kids will have so much fun playing:
- Guess the Character: similar to Guess Who, reveal certain attributes and characteristics about a character and see if your kids can guess who you’re describing.
- Star Wars Charades: act out your favorite character and have others guess who they are.
- Memory games using printable cards.
Star Wars Crafts
Beyond making puppets, there are other fun crafts that your kids can do:
- Make a lightsaber charm.
- Create a Star Wars handprint craft.
- Make their own Chewbacca.
- Design a Yoda puppet.
- Create a homemade space shuttle.
