Growing up, Dr. Seuss books were my “go-to” reading. When I needed a break from heavy reading, I picked up one of my favorite Dr. Seuss books. They were the ones I learned to read-on and I learned to love reading through them. He had a way with not only words, but rhymes and silliness that simply drew you in to his world. I would get lost in them for hours and then, I would dream of running a zoo or having a wacky Wednesday!

Your little Dr. Seuss fans will love practicing their handwriting skills with these themed practice pages. Included are 26 pages in both manuscript and cursive. You can print these out and use once or laminate them to use over and over! :: www.inallyoudo.net

Dr. Seuss Inspired Fun

Now that my children are at the age of starting to read on their own, we spend a lot of time reading my childhood favorites. The colorful images are captivating and the words are fun, so it holds their attention. My youngest schooler at the moment is still working on her handwriting, so anything I can find to help her and make it fun, is a bonus!

Below are a few fun activities you can do to celebrate Dr. Seuss while making learning fun in your homeschool.

Dress up as Dr. Seuss Characters

There is no shortage of unique characters throughout Dr. Seuss’ books. Have your children pick their favorite characters and dress up like them for the day (or just for part of the day). This is a fun activity that bring things your children have read to life.

Celebrate Dr. Seuss’ Birthday with a Party

Who doesn’t love a good birthday party celebration? Honor the legendary author by having a Dr. Seuss-themed birthday party. Be sure to have a few Dr. Seuss activities and games to play. You could even include reading some of his fun books, especially his classic story Green Eggs and Ham.

Observe Dr. Seuss Day

During this day, you can do lots of things that kids of all ages will enjoy. Older kids (think high school age) can write creative stories or plays for younger siblings to read or act out. Kids who fall between grades K-2 may enjoy copywork worksheets and a Dr. Seuss unit study. Your public library may also host some for Dr. Seuss Week. Also consider partnering with other homeschool families to plan a whole week of fun.

Use Free Printables

This year, we will celebrate Read Across America Day (March 2nd) with some fun new handwriting worksheets – alongside our other Seuss inspired printables. Using printables is a fun way for your kids to learn and/or practice concepts they’ve previously learned. Whether you use writing prompts, great ideas from their favorite book, creative writing printable pages, or the like – using a theme like this is a great way to switch up the learning style in your homeschool.
