The war is over, but the battle continues. Imagine a war of two countries. Soldiers in hand to hand combat. The bullets are real, the death toll rises and the damage is overwhelming. Then, the smoke dissipates and peace arises! A winner has been chosen! A hand shake between the countries and a promise of peace is signed. The war is over.
Jesus has won the war, but the battle still wages on
But, behind the darkness, the battle still wages on. The continued prowling for people to destroy doesn’t affect who wins in the end. Remember the war is over. A winner has already been chosen. None the less, darkness continues to move in an effort to bring down anyone they can.
How do we prepare for Spiritual battle?
The Word of God, tells us how to take our stand, as Christian soldiers, against the enemy.
“Finally, be strong in the Lord and in His mighty power. Put on the full armor of God, so that you can take your stand against the devil’s schemes. For our struggle is not against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the powers of this dark world and against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly realms. Therefore put on the full armor of God, so that when the day of evil comes, you may be able to stand your ground, and after you have done everything, to stand. Stand firm then, with the belt of truth buckled around your waist, with the breastplate of righteousness in place, and with your feet fitted with the readiness that comes from the gospel of peace. In addition to all this, take up the shield of faith, with which you can extinguish all the flaming arrows of the evil one. Take the helmet of salvation and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God. And pray in the spirit on all occasions with all kinds of prayers and requests. With this in mind, be alert and always keep on praying for all the Lord’s people.” Ephesians 6:10-18
#1 Be Strong In The Lord
Give yourself regular reality checks on where you relationship with God stands. Ask God to reveal to you where you fall short, repent and work on those areas. Read James 1:19-27
#2 Remember Who The Enemy Is
The Bible tells us, the enemy is not flesh and blood. The enemy is rulers of this dark world – Satan and his goonies, if you will. The enemy is not your spouse, children, parents, pastor, women at church, your neighbor nor your co-workers.
#3 Put on the Armor of God
God has given us a full suite of armor, just like a soldier in the army. Memorize Ephesians 6:10-18. Pray the armor over yourself, your spouse and your kids. Teach your kids this scripture. Don’t ever leave home without your armor.
Pray. And pray some more. According to a recent survey, more than half Americans say they pray every day. Prayer is a conversation between you and God. Prayer is not your shopping list of wants to our Heavenly Father. It is a time of worshiping Him, pouring your heart out to Him and a time of listening for Him to respond. Teach your children to pray. Pray continuously, with clenched fists.
God has given us every weapon and resource to arm ourselves in spiritual battle. Take up the armor that He has given us! Prepare your family for Spiritual Battle.
